Metropolis

Metropolis will challenge young peoples’ stereotypes of their local area by highlighting the value of industrial heritage. Through creating interactive city maps, young people can explore their local area and see how industrial heritage links to present and future jobs. This will inspire them to gain the qualifications necessary for the jobs of the future in post-industrial areas.

How?

The project will inspire young people to gain the qualifications and skills needed in their local area by:

  • Challenging young peoples’ stereotypes of their local area by highlighting the value of industrial heritage.
  • Creating interactive city maps so that young people can explore their local area and gain a better understanding of the legacy of the industrial past and an insight into the jobs of the future.
    • This will be achieved by creating a ‘treasure map’ where young people will be able to explore the city and learn about the heritage as well as predicted future significance.
